Phytopathology research at EPL primarily targets fungicide efficacy and monitors fungicide tolerance levels in plant pathogens across North America. You need actionable data to market and deploy the most efficacious products. We provide it. We monitor and provide real-time updates regarding pathogen populations, outbreaks, and changes in fungicide tolerance.

EPL strives to be a single point of contact for all crop protection products. We can determine optimal timing, dosage, and method of distribution for synthetic and biological fungicides, biostimulants, and hormonal regulators that protect plants. We have developed methods for obtaining and testing obligate and culturable fungal pathogens in vitro, in vivo, and in the field.

  • In Vitro Fungicide Testing

    Get a complete picture of your product performance. We provide a full dose-response relationship study with EC50-calculation. The pathogens are grown on 96 or 24 well plates, or on petri dishes and evaluated by our scientists. The resulting data can be analyzed for trends on potential resistance and adaptation, including seasonal, local, regional and geographic trends.

  • In Vivo Crop Protection Assays

    Speed matters. We cultivate susceptible plants, treat the plants with different fungicide concentrations and inoculate detached leaves with pathogens for a rapid evaluation by our scientists. We provide a discriminating dosage study with a YES or NO determination or a full dose-response relationship study with EC50-calculation. We test single or mixed culture pathogen samples collected from the field, air, or soil.

  • Agricultural Field Studies

    EPL is partnered with The Rhizome Network to provide field testing services of all kinds in all US growing zones and EPA regions. You have a single point of contact for the design, management, conduct, and subsequent chemical analysis of any and all field trials. This includes herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, and biological products.

  • Molecular Biology & Genetic Analysis

    The most common way for pathogens to develop resistance towards a specific fungicide is DNA mutations in the pathogen. With our Molecular Biology and genetic analysis, we can provide you with information on the gene mutations responsible for resistance. We can also help to identify what species, mix of species, or novel pathogen your crop is suffering from using modern molecular techniques.

  • Pathogen Population Monitoring

    Stop outbreaks before they start. We offer the ability to get information regarding fungal pathogen populations and their tolerance to chemical controls from anywhere in the United States. We use proprietary pathogen spore trapping and culturing methods that can even capture obligate pathogens. This service provides up to date information about how pathogen populations shift and change.

  • Custom Inoculum Production
